Annual Alumni Tailgate Parking Lot Rules

  1. Tailgating is permitted in the designated parking lot for limited hours only during the Saturday of Homecoming weekend at East Stroudsburg University. Each tailgating spot in the designated parking lot costs $40. Parking spaces not assigned by the Office of Alumni Engagement cannot be used for tailgating under any circumstances.
  2. Homecoming 2022 theme: Way of the Warrior. Whether you graduated from East Stroudsburg State Normal School, ESSTC, ESSC, or ESU, we want to see how you celebrate your alma mater. If you plan to participate in the judging competition for best decorated tailgate, please notify the Office of Alumni Engagement at (570) 422-3180 or mkoerber@esufoundation.org no later than October 13, 2022.
  3. Each group or organization is permitted one vehicle per block of spaces. If you have an extra-large vehicle, such as an RV, you must contact the Office of Alumni Engagement prior to registering.
  4. Guests can pre-register online or complete a registration card at the lot entry point. Wrist bands will be distributed by security to all attendees and must be worn while in the tailgating area. Proof of age is required for those 21 and older. Minors are permitted with parental supervision. Alcohol consumption by ESU students is subject to the ESU Student Alcohol Policy.
  5. There are a limited number of spaces available in the lot. Spaces are reserved on a first come, first served, basis with no limit on the number of spaces reserved per person or group.
  6. Tailgating hours are 10 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2022. Groups must arrive at the lot between 9 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. to set up their tailgate. Due to safety concerns, no vehicles will be permitted in or out of the lot after 10:00 a.m. ALL groups must begin cleaning up by 2:30 p.m. Tailgaters not leaving their cars for the game must have their areas cleaned up and exit the lot by 3:00 p.m.
  7. Tailgaters may leave their vehicles in the lot for the duration of the football game if they choose to attend. Preapproval must be communicated with the Office of Alumni Engagement no later than October 13, 2022.
  8. There is no half-time or post-game tailgating permitted in the tailgate lot.
  9. Individuals, groups, and organizations holding or participating in tailgating parties are responsible for their own conduct, are expected to be respectful of others, and communicate the hours of the tailgate to all participants.
  10. At its discretion, ESU staff, police, or security personnel may terminate tailgate parties, or take appropriate action against individuals, groups, or organizations whose conduct is irresponsible, unreasonable, inconsistent with university policies and regulations, or violates ordinances or laws. Unruly individuals may also be asked to leave the premises.
  11. Alcohol is permitted in the lot by tailgating groups; however, no kegs or trucks with beer tap systems are allowed in the parking lot area. All Pennsylvania alcohol laws must be followed.
  12. No glass is permitted. All drinks must be in plastic cups. Coolers will be checked upon arrival.
  13. Propane and charcoal grills are permitted provided the guests do so only in their assigned tailgating space. Usage near buildings or in any area where guests or property may be damaged is strictly prohibited.
  14. Open fires, fire pits, bonfires or campfires are not permitted. Charcoal grills MUST be completely extinguished and cooled off prior to departure from the tailgate area.
  15. Trash receptacles are located throughout the parking lot and a dumpster is located at the entrance area of the lot. Please bag and dispose of your trash to make it safe for vehicles exiting after the game. Do not place used charcoal in or near trash receptacles.
  16. No individual or group is permitted to sell food or beverage products.
  17. The ESU Office of Alumni Engagement DOES NOT supply tables, chairs, or tents for groups.

The ESU Police take alcohol violations very seriously. Violators will be cited under the PA Crimes Code, Section 6308.
Supplying alcohol to a minor is a misdemeanor and violators will be arrested.
