Important Message to ESU Alumni from President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D.

Dr. Marcia Welsh

Dear Warriors,

It is with mixed emotions that I am writing to you today to officially announce my retirement from East Stroudsburg University on July 31, 2020.  For the last eight years, some of my fondest memories and greatest joys have been interacting with you, whether it was when you returned to campus for a visit, at an alumni chapter event, or simply in passing.  It has been my honor to serve as President, and I want all of you to know that I have enjoyed being part of the Warrior family.

My decision to leave ESU has weighed heavily on me.  While I’ve stayed true to my commitment to ESU and our students, I recognize that I am at a place in my life when I want to look forward to spending more time with my own family, my husband, my children and my grandchildren.

During my time that remains, I will continue to strengthen ESU by focusing on the goals established in our strategic plan, while also preparing the institution for a change in leadership.  But as I develop these plans, I want to remind you that as alumni of this great University, the future of ESU rests in your hands. Your support in time, treasures and talent is paramount to its success and to changing the lives of students that continue to put their trust in us as an institution of higher education. Presidents may come and go, but you will forever be a Warrior.

My thanks to all of you for your continued support through the years.  I know that with your involvement, the future for ESU will continue to be bright for generations to come.

Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D.
